Premier Soccer League

June 16, 2010 - The Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay (PSL) is excited to announce the start of the 2010 season with Week 3 beginning this week. The PSL, which has taken the place of the D-League as the top men's senior league in Thunder Bay, will bring two separate divisions of play. The league will feature an "A Flight" and a “Retro- Over 35" division allowing for a higher caliber of soccer, and a more enjoyable experience for the players.

The main attraction of the PSL this season will be the "A Flight” that has five teams all vying for the League Championship. Last year's League Champion, Italia Juventus, will be looking to repeat in a tighter and stronger division. For the current Playoff Champion's, On Deck Euro Stars, to repeat as champions, they will have to follow a different playoff path to glory. This year's playoff format will now see the League Champion receive a bye to the finals round, while 2nd and 3rd place will have a one game playoff to see who qualifies for the finals. The finals will be a two game, total goal series, where the winner will be crowned Playoff Champion and lift the Regiment Cup trophy.

Chapples Park will play host to all PSL regular season and playoff games will be held primarily on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The League Convenor position is held by Carmen Felice, and is available for any questions.

Payment:

League Fee: $ 1500.00 + HST payable to the Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay.

Notes:

  1. Players must be registered through their affiliated club. The cost of a player registration is $15.00.
  2. The League Fee does not include banquet tickets. A decision among the teams to hold an annual banquet shall be held at a later meeting.
  3. Players can play in more than one division BUT rosters will be monitored by the Convenor to ensure level of play is balanced.
  4. To play in the Retro division, you must be 35 years or older.

Payment Due:

  1. Cash or cheque made payable to the Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay
  2. Teams can make two (2) payments. The first payment of $750.00 is due on Monday, September 13, 2010. The payment, application form and initial roster form must be dropped off at the Sports Dome between 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
  3. The second payment of $945.00 is due on Monday September 27, 2010 at 8pm at the Sports Dome. This will be the 1st League General Meeting of the Season (see below). At this time, you will receive your team package outlining league operations schedules, rules, and regulations. Final rosters must be submitted at this meeting.

Meeting Dates:

To be announced at the 1st League General meeting. Last year we avoided meetings as most of the communication was via email.

Player registration forms can be downloaded below.  Please ensure you download the Adult Registration form and waiver. Please note the 2nd page regarding the registration rules regarding players. This is a strict policy that the League will maintain. Also note that the league will begin the week of October 10, 2010.
